About Bucktown

The Bucktown Americana Music Show is the region’s longest-running and most beloved monthly folk music program. Since 2006, Bucktown has delighted audiences with rich, heartfelt performances rooted in America’s diverse folk traditions. Each two-hour concert showcases top regional talent in genres such as Folk, Bluegrass, Irish, Old-Time, Singer/Songwriter, and even Dixieland jazz.

In addition to highlighting local and regional artists, Bucktown regularly hosts national touring acts. This season’s lineup includes acclaimedGrand Ole Opry veterans Compton & Newberry, appearing in May. Mike Compton, known for his work with John Hartford and the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack, joins Joe Newberry, a gifted songwriter and award-winning banjo player, for an unforgettable evening.

A New Home for the 2025–26 Season

This season, Bucktown begins an exciting new chapter in a beautiful, intimate theater at the Watts-Midtown Branch of the Rock Island Library, conveniently located near Augustana College and Blackhawk Road at 2715 30th St., Rock Island.

Performances are held at 7 p.m. on the third Friday of each month, August through May — a 10-show season drawing dedicated attendees month after month.

Our first show in the 174-seat theater was sold out.

Our live audience is primarily adults aged 40 and up — college-educated, culturally engaged, and community-minded. They come to Bucktown to experience high-quality music, connect with others, and support the arts.
